Data-Logging Questionnaire

(Server-side CGI version)

Survey of cover-logging requirements.

If you were to move to using a data-logger, would you expect to:

use an existing data-logger (eg one for recording half-cell potentials)
purchase a general-purpose data-logger
purchase a specific data-logger to connect to an existing covermeter
purchase a covermeter which contained a logger

Would you need to record:

spot values of cover, one for each bar measured
continuous scans along traverses

How would you correlate the readings with position:

by purchasing an additional position-sensing device
by expecting the logger to contain position-measuring facilities
by expecting the covermeter to contain position-measuring facilities
by keying location codes into the logger
by simply keeping a written record of the measuring locations
not at all (cover readings only required)

Would you expect the covermeter/logger system you have in mind to:

present all results immediately on-site, and also record relevant data
only give on-site results if a computer was also on-site
not give any results at all until processed on the office computer

What would you do with the logged data:

basic statistics (minimum, maximum, mean, deviation, quartiles, limits)
ditto but with pretty pictures and pie-charts
attempt to recreate a drawing of the reinforcing structure

How would you interface the logger to your computer and software:

use your computer's inbuilt serial-port utility (eg "Terminal")
write or supply any necessary software yourself
be supplied with a simple downloading program, and carry on from there
expect to be supplied with software to interface to your document editor
expect to be supplied with software to do everything
commission a software house to write a custom program

What would your rôle be in this process:

using the covermeter to take the measurements on site
subsequent analysis and interpretation of those readings
preparation and presentation of a report to a client.

And last but by no means least:

Bearing in mind what you've asked for,
how much are you willing to pay for all this?
