SCHOOLS' FOOTBALL - INTER DISTRICT MATCH
Played at Bexley 26th October 2002
Bexley Under 11's 2, Hackney Under 11's 1
Hackney Under 11' stopped off on their way back from their Autumn Training Camp face a powerful Bexley side. They lost narrowly but gained many friends with the quality of much of their football.
Playing with a strong wind behind them, Bexley took the lead after just two minutes when Hackney twice failed to clear, but it was Hackney's Anthony Sasa and Okunu Olugu who caught the eye showing pace and strength on the flanks and it was Okunu who struck back with an angled drive which the goalkeeper failed to hold. Sasa then outstripped three defenders on a forty yard run but his powerful shot was just off target.
Hackney now came under more pressure and needed to hold on to the 1-1 scoreline until the interval and the chance to use the wind advantage, but Bexley again profited from a weak clearance to go 2-1 up.
The visitors created more chances as the game went on and with David Fallah prompting from mid-field, they created their best passing move of the match in the last minute only to see Greg Moorse-MacDougall's clever flick dramatically cleared off the line to deny Hackney a draw.
