Scooter's Scratchings for Winter 1996/97

Well, I‘m very new at this writing stuff, so I hope you will purrrmit me to do this my own way!

I do like it here, as it‘s always nice and warm indoors and in the garage where my meals and things are. I have a new soft bed (my master calls it "fleecy") near the warm radiator-thing in the room downstairs, and another "fleecy" thing on my chair upstairs, right next to my master‘s chair, though he won‘t let me go on his chair. If I sit by his feet and look up at him in my most appealing way, he will take the fleecy thing and put it on his lap, and then I am allowed to jump up and curl up on him.

There are cat doors on the house, the shed, and one is being put on the garage door soon, but it is kept open at the moment. Other cats come inside sometimes, especially the grey one, or we meet in the (very interesting!!) back garden, and we do talk a lot.

I have been getting a lot of fish since moving here, and almost every day now that I have been to visit the man in a white coat, the "vet". He is up the hill and my master takes me there in my special box. I don‘t like going into the box, but once I‘m in I am okay, and I do see other cats while I am there, at least until I go in to see the man. He feels me and prods me with strange things, then talks to my master, then we go back home, down the hill.

But the fish are much more interesting! I get Cod, Haddock and Coley, and I am sometimes given fresh chicken and I get really excited when that‘s coming. My master lets me sniff the chicken for a moment so that I know what‘s for dinner, then he puts it in the oven-thing that makes it hot, so I have to wait a while. It‘s worth it!

Must "paws" now, but I‘ll write again soon, I promise!
