"The Lone Walker"

I likes to go for a walk ev‘ry day
Helps prolong active life, so they say
Though I‘m not so sure, the way things are today!
   Nearly gives me heart failure!

Here comes a young couple out for a ride
All very friendly, cycling side by side
But they‘re up on the path and there‘s nowhere to hide!
   Nearly gave me heart failure!

Because of the cars, the path here‘s so narrow,
They‘re parked on the pavement—scarcely room for a barrow!
But I slip between cars—though I‘m scared to the marrow
Enough to give me heart failure!

Almost slipped on some litter—there‘s no end of that
And a spilled bag of trash ripped open by a cat
I don‘t know how you could cope if you‘re fat!
I should think you‘d have heart failure!
