About the Davis Estate Community Centre

The Davis Estate Residents' Association, Chatham (DERAC) runs their own Community Centre, a well-appointed hall and related facilities available for hire, situated at the heart of the Davis Estate, in Barberry Avenue.

The DERAC Community Centre has its own bar and kitchen facilities, a large car parking space (for 25 cars) and is one of the best such facilities in the area. Front view of DERAC Community Centre Fire regulations restrict the number of people on the premises as follows:-

Dancing or close seated — 200
Seated around tables — 165
Exhibition — 120

The Community Centre has a spacious dance floor with an ample supply of tables and chairs. There is a good bar area leading to a well equipped kitchen which has an adjoining room with a serving hatch to the main hall. The Centre is adequately heated by a modern central heating system, ventilation is provided by extractor fans and ceiling fans. Car parking space is provided for 28 cars. A payphone for incoming and outgoing calls is located in the entrance hall (Tel: 01634 684 552).

The Centre has a full alcohol licence and all bars have to be run by our approved bar staff. The bar is well run and the prices are comparable to normal Public House prices. Owing to the increased caretaker duties resulting from alcohol consumption (i.e. extra cleaning, later evacuation of the premises etc) a surcharge of £ 30·00 is made on ALL functions where alcohol is consumed on the premises.
