The Egyptians and the South American Mayans built structures using stone
blocks weighing up to 10 tons. These structures compete with the height of
the Empire State Building.
The Aztecs of South America shaped and placed their blocks so carefully in
their structures that you could not get a knife blade between them today.

They had not yet discovered iron.

The Mayans fashioned a human skull out of crystal so smooth that you can see
through it. The jaw moves and yet is still part of the original crystal.

The only tools they had were of wood, stone and animal bone.
|

Scientists believe that with the tools of the time it would have taken over
150 years of continuous work to finish the skull. They suggest its purpose
might have been to start the ritual fires every 52 years, at the beginning
of a particular calendar period.

|
|
|
You only need to look at the buildings and artefacts discovered from these
ancient civilisations to to feel the awesome power and organisation it must
have taken to produce. A power so strong that when studying the tomb lid of
Palenque people have actually considered that the inscriptions were telling
of a leader from another planet (right).

|
One thing that strikes me whenever I think of these great Ancient
Civilisations is how similar they are, yet they existed in fairly localised
areas throughout the globe.We all know of the famous Egyptian pyramids, the
Mayans also built pyramid type buildings.
But they were not used as homes; both served religious purposes.
The Toltecs, too, built pyramids much earlier, as did the zapotechs, but
from earth this time, so long ago.
I think we can forgive anyone who, however jovially, suggests that our
decendants came from another planet.
Consider this:
If you were about to colonise a small planet who's surface was over 60%
water, you might, perhaps, make a course for one of the two major land
masses.
Our two oldest known civilisations began on our two largest landmasses;
Mesopatamia (NE of Israel) and Central America.
And we are the only species on the planet to suffer from the common cold!!

Others consider, more seriously, the notion of a large Ancient civilisation,
growing up on a small continent in what we now call the Atlantic. Plato
wrote of such an island called 'Atlantis' whose people traded across the
water with younger countries such as Greece; an area in northern Africa
called the Atlas mountains and a tribe of 'Atlans' in South America.
The theory then goes that, at the destruction of Atlantis, the people made
for the countries that they had already been trading with. The strong Naval
Army of Atlantis quickly overpowered the weaker forces in the Mediterranean
and then moved down the long, lush river Nile.

It's alright, I'm not totally insane!!

But when archaelogists studied the tomb lid they discovered that when an
acetate copy was placed over the inscriptions and then offset by a certain
amount, all the Mayan Gods in a hierachical order were displayed (right).
It's a mighty coincidence that this should happen (and they do match the
engravings and statues found around the temples). There were, of course, no
acetates or overhead projectors in those days, so if this is not a
coincidence, what kind of mind could calculate the carvings needed to be
made on the lid?

There are many similarities and coincidences occurring throughout these
Ancient Civilisations that it seems hard to account for. And it is these
that interest me.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Both Mayans and Egyptians studied, and indeed, worshipped, the heavens.
Fine, man has always looked to see what is beyond that which he knows and
stood in awe of it. But the Egyptians built an earth-bound replica (below
right) of the constellation Orion (below far right) that was accurate down
to the nearest degree. What equipment (or lost knowledge) must they have
had to accomplish such a task?
The Mayans too built pyramids that were oriented perfectly with the points
of the compass.
Inside the great Egyptian pyramid of Giza there are tunnels, not bored out
tunnels, but tunnels that were incorporated into the building of the
pyramid. These tunnels are dead straight and would have lined up exactly
with the stars of Orion when it was built (below left).

The Mayans, although worshipping Plaedes (the Seven Sisters), devoted a lot
of their time to the sun. They based their entire calendar on its
behaviour. They observed that it 'travelled' right across the sky, and
how it was sometimes high and sometimes close to the horizon and that it
took 365 ¼ days to complete this cycle. So their year was the same length
as ours; they even had a leap year of sorts, making up the difference over
a period of years.

The Mayan calendar is very complicated. It is, as I said, based on the
behaviour of the sun, which is, in turn, very complicated.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The sun has more cycles than a bike shop. And it is this that the Mayans
discovered. The largest of their cycles translates to be known as a 'Sun'.
The current Sun began in 3114BC and is calculated to end on 22 December
2021. Scientists have proved their calculations to be correct as to the
length of a complete solar cycle (1,366,560 days). This is the length of
time it takes all the - ions to fight and become embroiled in the + ions,
decide that they don't really like each other and then run away from each
other as fast as they can.
Every 11.75 years (another of the Mayans' calendar periods) the + and - ions
have a mini tussle on the sun resulting in a smaller, incomplete cycle of
the sun. Scientists have noticed that there is an increase in magnetic
storms at the end of these cycles and also a likelihood of extreme weather
conditions on the Earth.
In the year 2012 the sun will complete its present Sun. The Mayan year will
be at an end and all the little -s and +s will go back to their rightful
places. Unfortunately, scientists have predicted that this will result in
the reversal of the poles on the Earth (N becomes S etc.).
Don't be too scared, this will probably only take the form of hurricanes and
tidal waves; something that happens on the Earth all the time!!

Stone circles, Monoliths, Pyramids, temples; these are fascinating in
themselves. But, coupled with ancient, yet infallable, mathematical
calculations; Ley Lines, structure orientation, complex calendars and higher
order artefacts just keep me in awe.
|
